Chitinases are capable of hydrolyzing N-acetyl-glucosamine polymers, such as chitin, and are known for their ability to degrade fungal and insect cell walls, as well as for their lytic effect on certain bacterial species. The objective of this study was to isolate Bacillus spp. and related genera from soil samples collected from parks and squares in the cities of Resistencia and Corrientes, and to characterize their chitinolytic capacity both phenotypically and genotypically to find strains that could be the subject of further studies due to their potential use as biocontrollers. Soil samples were collected from different locations in the city of Corrientes and Resistencia (Argentina) to isolate Bacillus spp. and relate","pubDate":"2026-10-14","url":"http://www.scielo.org.ar/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&pid=S1851-75872026000100010"},"indexado":"2026-10-22T21:54:18.825Z"}}
